The New Patient Experience
ServicesFirewheel Dentistry has taken another step to insure patients have a clearer understanding about their current oral health.
We recently implemented the latest in visual presentation technology. Using our intraoral camera we can see every angle of your teeth on a 20” monitor. We can save your pictures to your digital chart and have a visual record of your mouth. Dr. Thai says, “This technology allows the patient to see for themselves the condition of their mouth. We can magnify a tooth many times its original size. For most patients seeing their teeth up close make easily to visualize their condition, and motivate them to achieve healthy care of their teeth.”

Veneers
Teeth that are gapped or suffer from deep stains are most often candidates for veneers. Veneers are rigid shells that are constructed in the lab and then bonded to the teeth. This procedure requires two office visits.

During the first visit, the dentist will conservatively reduce the tooth’s surface area, thus allowing the veneer a custom fit. The dentist will also take impressions of the teeth will serve as models. In the lab, the veneers are constructed to fit the models. During the second visit, the dentist will etch the tooth surface and apply a bonding agent. The veneers are then attached to the teeth. Many different materials are used for veneers, however the most durable is porcelain. To keep the veneers loking new, regular and thorough cleanings are necessary.

Invisible Fillings
Fillings are now invisible thanks to composites, tooth colored filling materials made of resin and porcelain particles that are placed in one visit to restore your tooth’s function, form, and esthetics. Research has shown modern composites function equal or superior to silver amalgam fillings. Composites strengthen teeth while silver amalgams actually weaken them. Composites look like your teeth while silver amalgams look ugly.

Root Canal Therapy
Give your tooth a chance! If you have a tooth that has a disease nerve (toothache), it can often saved through a specialized dental procedure called endodontic treatment. The common name for this procedure is “root canal therapy”. The treatment today is often completed with little or no discomfort during or after the procedure.

The tooth is anesthtized and an opening into the root chamber is made through the top of the diseased tooth. The diseased tissue is removed from the pulp chamber, and the root canals are cleaned, enlarged and shaped. The chamber and root canals are then filled and sealed. The procedure can be performed at one appointment if the tooth is not badly infected or there is no swelling present over the tooth. A buil-up of the tooth is done with a post or filling and a crown is placed over the tooth to protect it from fracturing.

We hope that all your teeth last a lifetime, but if one of your teeth should become injured or diseased, root canal therapy can often restore a tooth and give it a second chance.

The cost of root canal therapy at Firewheel Dentistry varies due to the type of tooth and the number of canals in the tooth.
